The World Ocean School is an internationally focused nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing challenging educational programs by:

• Fostering an appreciation for, and obligation to, community and relationships
• Developing a deep commitment to ethical values
• Cultivating an expanded world view

We will fulfill our mission on the schooner Roseway by providing:

• Weekly academic programs in St. Croix, USVI for public junior high school students in science, math, language arts, and history
• Summer day programs in Boston for inner-city youth focusing on maritime history, sail training, and community building
• Multi-day summer expeditions for youth worldwide focusing on community service, sail training, leadership, communications, and natural history

Our programs educate, inspire, and connect youth by:

• Restoring the confidence of young people in themselves, others, and the global community
• Cultivating ideals that young people need if they are to thrive
• Setting high and clear expectations for learning and behavior
• Strengthening relationships with community, ideas, and values
