2012 will be a special summer aboard Boston’s National Historic Landmark schooner Roseway,  as we celebrate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 as an important commemoration of America’s maritime history.

World Ocean School Maritime Programs
The World Ocean School operates Roseway in Boston from June through September and welcomes school groups, youth organizations, and summer camps on board either for dockside learning experiences or sailing expeditions throughout the Boston Harbor Islands. Our programs can include maritime and natural history of the area, sail training, and team building.

We accommodate up to 30 students for half-day, full-day or multi-day trips .

Roseway’s Tall Ship Day - June 16, 2012
Kick-start your summer with a day at sea aboard Boston’s tall ship. Students ages 10-15 can join Roseway for a day of sailing, learning, adventure, and fun. You’ll be introduced to local maritime history, navigation, seamanship, sail training, teambuilding, and environmental stewardship.  If you love it, come back and join us for the Tall Ship Camp and Tall Ship Expedition later in the summer.

Roseway’s Tall Ship Camp - August 20-24, 2012
This 5-day program that operates from 8:30-4:30 daily. It provides an opportunity for students, ages 10-15 in the Boston area to set sail, providing expanded perspectives, challenges, adventure, and fun. On board Roseway, students will explore Boston’s harbor islands from a different vantage point, discover the historic schooner Roseway’s role in Boston’s maritime history, navigate the city’s harbor, practice seamanship, sail training, and teambuilding. Simultaneously students will incorporate lessons in environmental responsibility, weather, buoyancy, physics of lift, points of sail, speed and distance, language arts, and community service.

August 20-24, 2012 / 8:30am – 4:30pm Daily / Fan Pier Marina, Boston / $625 tuition

Roseway’s Tall Ship Expedition - August 25-28, 2012
This is a great way to wrap up your summer activities with a weekend away on a tall ship. Like the Tall Ship Camp, it is an opportunity for students ages 10-15 to set sail aboard Roseway, providing expanded perspectives, challenges, adventure, and fun. With a focus on maritime history, navigation, seamanship, sail training, teambuilding, and environmental stewardship, this expedition is a chance for students to sleep, work, and learn on board for a weekend.

August 25-28, 2012 / Departs from and returns to Fan Pier Marina, Boston / $780 tuition

Summer Ambassador Program – July 14-August 2, 2012
The 2012 Summer Ambassador Program is an opportunity for students ages 12-16 to set sail for Halifax Nova Scotia for 18 days—expanding their perspective of the world, immersing themselves in and contributing to different cultures, and practicing community building aboard the historic landmark schooner Roseway. During their expedition at sea, students will learn and practice seamanship and navigation as they operate and maintain the 137-foot schooner that is their home, as well as carry out lessons in history, environmental responsibility, teambuilding, and language arts.
