The World Ocean School is an internationally focused nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing challenging educational programs aboard the schooner Roseway.
From November to May, Roseway operates in the U.S. Virgin Islands providing the platform for a curriculum integrated program serving 7th grade students from St. Croix’s public schools. The program is partially funded by a federal grant to the Virgin Islands Department of Education and serves approximately 600 students each season. Each one-week program welcomes 25 students aboard for five consecutive mornings or afternoons, and ties the historic sailing experience to math, science, English, and social studies.
The World Ocean School also welcomes school groups and youth organizations on board either for dockside learning experiences or sailing expeditions during the school day. Our programs can include maritime and natural history of the area, sail training, and team building. We can accommodate up to 75 students and staff. Please contact us for more information. We welcome you aboard!
