After the acquisition, the Denis Sullivan set sail for the first time in over two years to depart for St. Petersburg, FL. On October 8th, 2022, she left Milwaukee with her masts taken off and transported by truck.
The Denis Sullivan and crew traveled 1,269 miles from Chicago, IL to Mobile, AL completely inland through various locks over the course of 10 days. Two days after arriving in Mobile, they sailed across the Gulf of Mexico to St. Petersburg. Her masts were put back on and work was started so she would be able to get her Certificate of Inspection as a Sailing School Vessel.
