Katharine Jennings

Katharine earned her BA from Guilford College with a major in Sociology, a minor in History, and a concentration in Women’s Studies. After college, she joined the second corps of Teach for America, which launched her thirty-year career in education. In 1995, she earned her MS in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University. She has taught and been an administrator in both public and private K-12 schools. She has provided early intervention services for infants and toddlers as well as implemented disability services in post-secondary settings. For the past ten years, she has been working as a private educational consultant advising families on school placement and supplemental services as well as providing special education advocacy. She has had a long commitment to working on food insecurity issues, serves on the board for the Salem Academy Alumnae Association as Chair of the Student Engagement Committee, and since 2017 has been an education advisor to the board of World Ocean School. In her free time, she enjoys chatting with the local farmers at the curb market and cooking for family and friends.
