9am Buzzards Bay Coalition (BBC) staff of 31 people gathered on dock state pier New Bedford. Ship was anchored in Buzzards Bay last night. As an icebreaker, the staff played a game of “Captain Says”, in which the two most recent hires of BBC won. Weather started out the day partly cloudy, with some patches of sun. We left the dock around 10:30, motored through New Bedford Harbour, and raised sails once we were through the hurricane barrier.
As a full group, we worked to lower the sails and furl them. We completed one rotation before lunch, with the following two after our meal. Rotations included R&R (enjoying time on ship), active watch (steering ship and adjusting sails as-needed), and knot-tying. After roatations, Dennis-Sullivan turned around to drop off day-trip participants and pick up two community boating center participants to join in on the fun.
Denis-Sulluivan left New Bedford harbour at 4pm, with breif but heavy downpour. We once again raised the sails, and then moved into another rotation cycle - active watch, sea poetry, and R&R. Motor sailed towards naushon Island to dock for the night. We went through Quick’s Hole as of 19:00EST. Voyage in process to anchor for the night.
Thank you to the crew of Denis-Sullivan for a wonderful day on board!
