Norfolk to Charleston (Day 1)

10/22

Great day to start our cruise to Charleston perfect weather calm seas light winds. We were able to raise all sails, learn the ropes or lines as we call them. Fantastic meals aboard and a fantastic crew. We assigned 3 watch crews and are performing 4 hour watches. I got some good practice at the helm in the dark of a beautiful star filled sky until the mast flood lights were turned on to assist the deckhands with bringing the anchor aboard. We are currently motor sailing to keep our speed around 6 knots. The lights of Virginia Beach are visible to the west and quite bright. my watch will end at midnight and I’m looking forward to climbing into my cozy bunk for a good night's sleep. Paul Heaton: Guest Crew Member “Alpha Watch Group”

Saw dolphins while still in the harbor. passed to port of a carrier. One of those beautiful days and glad to have a pair of motors since the wind was light and we have a long way to go.
