Alexandria Seaport Foundation Day 1

October 14, 2026

If there’s one thing I learned today about the students (and staff) of the Alexandra Seaport Foundation, it's that they’re all really funny! I haven’t laughed this much in a long time, and its only day one! I’m super excited to experience the GCBSR for the first time with this group. We’re gonna have so much fun!

-Vivian

I’m so excited to sail with, teach, and learn from the students and staff of the Alexandria Seaport Foundation. Your enthusiasm for this experience and willingness to jump in and learn are so exciting!! I can’t wait to see how much we can learn and do in the next three days and I hope you all get out of this trip everything you were hoping to.

-Lena

Yesterday was a day that was full of new experiences. I learned a lot about how tall ships work, met a lot of new people, and spent a lot more time than I am used to with my coworkers. Overall it’s been an exciting trip so far, and I can’t wait to get underway.

-Ryan

Yesterday I was enjoying meeting the crew. Learning new things about the Denis Sullivan, learning how to operate it and learning where everything is at. The crew is calm, cool, and collected. Day one was way fun, I had a good time. Day two gotta be even better! I’m thrilled to see what happens next on this trip. I like the team synchronization, like how we all clapped our hands together. The 321 BOOM! part. I like everything, I don’t see anything wrong.

-Joshua

I’m feeling good with what we did, getting to meet people that is in the same line of work as me. So to see how they operate and move around the boat and work as a team. I’m feeling good this morning. It feels good being up before others and getting hands on. We checked bilge pumps, etc

-B watch: Ender & D’Andre

Our appointed deckhand Leo showed us how to do the morning watch and its feeling like everything’s coming together. On this trip, we have already learned so much and we look forward to learning and living more.

-Marcus

I have been having a great time with my captain boss man leo/aka training mate Leo has been here every step of the way making this experience extra great. Last night, I had brisket and mac & cheese. Crazy to say I got actively good sleep and woke to a brownie made personally by the only Big Andy! Me and team made sure while everyone get they beauty rest the vessel is safe and in proper care. Captain K out!
