Meet The Team

Fredi Guevara-Prip

Fredi began sailing on tall ships in 2019. She first started as a volunteer at the Sloop Clearwater and has since held almost every position onboard. As they are starting to venture into more near-coastal and ocean voyages on other vessels with World Ocean School and other organizations such as Sea Education Association, they are ready to work towards licensure. She is very excited to join WOS for their new Mate-In-Training program, expand her skill set, and advance in her professional development as a merchant mariner.

Fredi grew up in NYC, and has always felt a special connection to the Hudson and its surrounding waters. Before working on tall ships, they spent their time volunteering at the Science Barge in Yonkers and monitoring classes for the Art Students League in New York. Fredi is also a multi-media artist and often spends her time off-ship working with community-based organizations (i.e. Houses on the Moon Theater Company, the Young Lordes Collective, etc.) on locally based projects that tie together activism and artistry.
