Meet The Team
Hailey Barron
Hailey grew up landlocked on a family farm in Illinois and, prior to her first tall ship, had never been on anything larger than a kayak. She started her sailing career in late 2023 with the San Diego Maritime Museum. Before sailing, she travelled the US extensively, but ultimately felt the call of the sea and decided to start exploring the world the old-fashioned way. While sailing Californian and San Salvador in San Diego, she spent time on the twin brigantines Irving and Exy Johnson, as well as American Pride, in Los Angeles. After spending the end of the 2024 summer season on Hawaiian Chieftain, she decided it was time to explore the east coast. Hailey came to WOS after spending her summer aboard the tops'l schooner Lynx.
Aboard our ship, Hailey spends her free time well. When she's not knitting up an army of sweaters, she can be found at the nearest swing dance hall. Her favorite part of the ship is the world of canvas and rigging overhead, and she hopes to one day make her shipmates proud by becoming as good of a mate as the ones she learned under.
