Marcus Stokes-Rees
Marcus spent his early childhood in Boston, where his father would take him out sailing on the Charles River and hiking across Massachusetts. Since moving to Upstate NY, and now to Ontario for university, he has not had much boating experience past the occasional canoe trip, but is excited to return to the East Coast this season as a Deckhand Educator, where he hopes to build on his seamanship skills, and contribute to World Ocean School’s programs.
In Canada, Marcus is completing a dual degree in Biology and Education, a choice influenced by his years of involvement with camps and organizations that promoted nature-based education and environmental conservation in his community. Having devoted time to promoting species survival plans, conducting marine mammal research, and taking classes in aquatic studies at Queen’s University, he looks forward to learning more from the seasoned staff in the coming months.
