Meet The Team
Steven Kirk
Steve joined World Ocean School in 2017, having spent most of the previous thirty years helping to provide transformative international experiences to young people and adults around the world. He has supervised volunteer international development projects through senior roles at Amigos de las Americas, WorldTeach, Partners of the Americas, and Pueblo a Pueblo. He has also facilitated high school student international exchange at AFS Intercultural Programs/USA and School Year Abroad. While bringing several years of experience in finance and administration to the role, Steve was attracted to World Ocean School by its mission and the opportunity to continue to transform the lives of young people. Steve’s professional experience and interests are uniquely combined with his personal interests at World Ocean School. After moving to East Boston several years ago, Steve and his wife, Maria, learned to sail sonar class sailboats at Piers Park Sailing Center and Steve is currently serving as the organization’s Board Chair. Steve holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in international development from Clark University.
