Sail Portsmouth Sea Challenge (Day 2)
Ship’s Log written by Sail Portsmouth students Remick, Mikhail, Fennec, Richard, and Ludwig.
July 20th, 2025
To sail the Seas
Sails unfurl like willows on the wind,
they catch hold and away we go,
we set sail at sea,
the scent of salt a faithful companion,
muster or mustard,
we are together as one,
by night and by day,
we sing songs of fun,
each plank of the ship has a story to be told,
just bend down close and wonder unfolds,
boat has so much history and knowledge,
and we are the ones that are the future to come.
-Remick
Today we woke up at the ripe age of 6:50 after a night of careful watch and valued rest. a select few students enjoyed their night on the deck observing the stars in the boston harbor. our sails were hoisted for the first time this escapade which assisted in our voyage to Cape Cod. We indulged in stories, sailing, and many knots.
-Mikhail
Slept like a baby and had the first night watch. We sailed through the cape cod canal, and it was very windy. relearned some knots and coils. Will you be my balentine?
-fennec
Very windy today, and our first full day on the ship. Learned more about knots, direction of the wind, setting courses for the ship, and more. We also had some good food today, can’t forget about that. I think the next day will be great.
-Richard
Today I woke up at 5: 30 for night watch and could not fall asleep after so that was fun and we got to go under 3 brigades at the canal that was cool.
