Summer Ambassador Program Day 3

Day 3, tired, tired, tired but WOW what a fun day!

We awoke to a Cold, Crisp morning. A portion of the Crew emerged from their slumber down below, whilst many spent the night on deck. Rations of fluffy pancakes and savory sausages were instantly devoured.

Our teamwork and efficiency were unmatched during our morning chore: deckwash. Using the saltwater fire hose onboard to clean the deck of dirt and gunk.

Afterwards, we then found ourselves whisked away on our small boats to the Isle of Shoals to check out it’s marine lab. So many seagulls, pickled skate pups, and views world-renowned artists would love to paint. Many of us are excited to explore more academically centered opportunities there in the future.

Following the marine lab expedition, we returned to the ship to haul up anchor. Teams of us pumped the windlass, flaked the chain, and sang “Roll the Ol Chariot”. Our favorite verse being “well, twenty dollars never did us any harm”.

We observed the fruits of our labor during seamanship lessons. The entirety of C watch were able to complete much of their skills checklist.

The highlight of the day was during ancillary chores. Down in the galley C watch became a hive mind, perfecting the art of the callback. “Knife for Lily”. “Fork for Seth”, “Lysol for Ari”. Turning a simple task into something very enjoyable and memorable.
