Williams-Mystic Day 4
October 7, 2026
Yesterday was an absolutely awesome day for creature spotting. We had dolphins, a little gold finch, a northern flicker, a bat, and an OWL, which was quite stunning. We also had very nice seas and practiced some sail handling on the way to where we are now anchored, which was also really fun.

Delightful day yesterday- I really enjoyed getting to do some real sailing! We tacked a ton and it was great getting to observe every role (and take part) of the process, lots to learn and become better at! The Almanacs were delightfully silly and fun and learning from Cap how to take local apparent noon with a sextant was so so cool!

I can't believe that I am here. Each day gets more exciting. I got to see an owl yesterday who was having a great time sitting on a rope. Oh and the sleepy bat that found a lovely perch on the caprail. I feel so extremely lucky that I get to share all these experiences with my fellow classmates, teachers, and new people who have taught me a lot about myself that I didn't realize. I am thankful for all those who have pushed me to try something new or hard. I know I will be holding on to this time, these memories, forever. Also, our watch leaders are so awesome!!

Super mega epic time overall although I'm writing this while slightly seasick. We really guitar maxed. And chain/anchor maxed #hotwindlassgirlsummer (cap's words!). We learned about our favorite star, Zubenelgenubi. Could be the name of a Jedi. We also had apple crumble which SLAPPED. Fantastic work Mae, 10/10. Happy birthday to our wayward soldier Polly #20 #I'mwearingherboots
