Winter Ambassador Voyage: Day 3

Dec 29, 2025:

Reveille this morning was at 0720, we woke up to the smell of Banana chocolate chip pancakes. When we arose from our slumber we congregated on the midship to discuss our sleep while brushing teeth. Mycal drank tea. B watch brought out the necessary components for the crew to consume breakfast such as utensils, plates and the such. Alongside our banana chocolate chip pancakes there was, suddenly, probiotic yogurt, hardboiled eggs and syrup. And there we were, full bellies, ready to work (segue to deckwash/ end scene).

C watch was responsible for washing the deck this morning, which left all of our feet fragranced with Murphys’ oil and seawater. Then, we all changed into our swimsuits, ready to embark on the magical journey to Culebra. We utilized our small dinghys to travel from our anchored position in between the islands of mainland Puerto Rico and Culebra. When our amphibious landing was successfully completed, we continued by foot over a large hill, to the beach the locals call Flamenco due to its previous inhabitants by the large pink birds known by the locals as Flamencos.

And there we were, the waves lured us in. Strolling along the sandy beaches we came came head on with vandalized, subway surfer esque graffitied WWII era tanks. just like the Marines that once worked on these islands, we too became amphibious and cannon bombed into the water.

And there we were, back at the helm, we heaved and hauled the anchor with the windlass up onto the rails at the bow of the Schooner. We dropped anchor for a second time, spoketh about Culebran History and the great importance of Mangroves. After being eyed by the tarpon on the side of the ship, we came in here to write this, and there you are. Mayhaps sitting on a white couch in Kansas City, leisurely reading today’s Denis Tabloid.
