Sail Portsmouth Day 3

July 19

In the morning we had oatmeal with apples, granola, cinnamon, and yogurt. After breakfast we had to do chores like dishes, deck washing, and ship log. C watch which stands for C-C-C-CCooool watch, we used a hose which pumped salt water from the ocean to wash the deck of dirt and food spills. We raised the anchor and sang a sea shanty. (mom it finally happened.) We split up into two groups and raised the sails, the wind was a lot. Don't wear big shirts in heavy wind FYI. Queue blowhole, we saw whales, they were not that big. (hey mom and dad-Naomi). We went to Gloucester beach and we did the swim test to see if we can swim! We can all swim, I think. The water was very cold uh I did not like it and neither did anyone else. Then we got ice cream at Holy Cow oh my gosh it was so yummy. We saw the schooner adventure (another ship) and they fired at us AAAA (with a blank round). We did a man overboard drill with a buoy that we named John pork. C watch had to strike the sails which is basically uh bringing them down but they were already down. The other watches in the man overboard drills had to spot (look for the man that was overboard) and they had to throw life rings and the floating donuts into the water at them. Tonight we’re watching a movie, but it’s not the Goonies >:(
