Sail Portsmouth Day 4

July 20

This is A watch. Our members are: Anderson, Lilly, Grace, Lucian, Harry, and James. Our watch leaders are Keira and Jordan.

After we woke up today the first things we did was brush our teeth and have breakfast. We set sail after that and then after that we did some chores. One of those was deck wash. We did that by cleaning some of the things on the deck and then turning the hose on and washing the deck. During our chores we saw 2 humpback whales. Grace was very excited to see them. Afterwards we learned about poetry and one of our members, James, wrote one. After we learned about poetry we dropped anchor in Ipswich and then packed lunch for our excursion. We helped hoist Shortbread (our small boat we used to get to our excursion) up and then we dropped it into the water. We then put our lifejackets on and went into our small boat. We landed at the beach and then met our tour guide. We walked along the beach with our tour guide who taught us about the animals on the beach, and then went on a trail in the woods with Greenhead Flies. The trail led us to an awesome huge mansion that was owned by a family called the Cranes in the 1920’s. It had lead gargoyles in the front along with a grass stretch that used to be a pool. It also had many statues in the front. We learned that the 5,000 acres was first purchased for 20 pounds back in the 1920’s. We then saw a beautiful garden that smelled great. Afterwards we walked back to our small boats from the beach and then drove back to our ship in a wet ride on our small boats. When we got back we took showers where most people jumped into the ocean and then finished our showers. We then had a delicious meal of mac & cheese made by our amazing cook Anne. We are now doing chores by writing this Ship Log.
